AIW JT Lightning Invitational Tournament

Results from this weekend's Absolute Intense Wrestling's "JT Lightning Invitational Tournament" event at Turner Hall in Cleveland Ohio - all AIW wrestling blog posts. Interview and Recap Show.

The big event of the weekend was a 24-man tournament. Night one included 12 opening round matches in the tournament and night two saw the quarter-final, semi-final, and final rounds of the tournament.

The winner of the tournament is not only 2012 JLIT Champion but also becomes AIW Absolute Champion. Before the event, it was announced that current champion Shiima Xion was stripped of the title (video below).

Night One

Non-tournament match:
  1. Preshow: The Submission Squad (Gary Jay, Evan Gelistico & Pierre Abernathy) defeated Team Michigan (Maserati Rick, KJ Crush & Jack Verville) in a Beyond Wrestling Showcase match when Gelistico pinned Rick with a small package.
1st round tournament matches:
  1. Louis Lyndon defeated Mat Fitchett via cross arm breaker submission.

  2. Bobby Beverly beat Kodama (replacing Dave Crist) after hitting a superkick and a modified EVO.

  3. Marion Fontaine defeated Michael Facade after hitting a big right haymaker.

  4. Ophidian (replacing Johnny Gargano) pinned Gregory Iron with a roll-up. Afterward, Iron cut a heel promo and said everyone is jealous of his success in Cleveland (video below).

  5. Willie Mack pinned Ethan Page (subbing for the injured Sugar Dunkerton) after hitting the Chocolate Thunder Bomb (sitdown powerbomb).


  6. Colin Delaney pinned Archibald Peck (w/Veronica) after Veronica holds Peck's leg on a springboard attempt and Delaney hitting the 12 Large Elbow drop.

    INTERMISSION

  7. Eric Ryan pinned Obariyon (replacing Jake Crist) after hitting two package pile drivers.

  8. B.J. Whitmer pinned Colt Cabana (with Southside St. Clair) with a back slide.

  9. The Brian Kendrick (subbing for the injured Uhaa Nation) pinned Tim Donst with a small package after rolling through a power slam attempt.

  10. ACH beat Davey Vega after hitting a cradle DDT.

  11. Rickey Shane Page defeated Flip Kendrick (replacing AR Fox) via Cloverleaf submission. During the match, Page's nemisis John Thorne prevented Chest Flexor from interfering.

  12. Josh Prohibition beat M-Dogg 20 Matt Cross after Cross missed the Shooting Star Press and Prohibition hitting the Drunken Driver.


Night Two

  1. Preshow: The Submission Squad (Gary Jay, Evan Gelistico & Pierre Abernathy with Jock Samson) picked up a win against The Duke and Da Latin Crime Syndicate (K-Fernandez  & Joey "Snake" with Luis Diamante). Originally Jock Samson was supposed to be in this 8-man tag match but refused to wrestle in front of a crowd he didn't feel were real men. Samson later would interfere hitting the Duke with his cowbell allowing Gelistico to score the pin.
2nd round tournament matches
  1. ACH pinned Willie Mack after landing the frog splash. Afterward, Willie Mack receives an open invite to return to Cleveland from AIW acting President Matt Wadsworth.

  2. Colin Delaney defeated Marion Fontaine via count out

  3. The Brian Kendrick beat Louis Lyndon after hitting Sliced Bread #2 (Tornado DDT).

  4. B.J. Whitmer pinned Bobby Beverly (with Chest Flexor) after Flexor interference backfired and Whitmer hit the exploder suplex.

  5. Josh Prohibition defeated Ophidan after hitting the Drunken Driver.

  6. Eric Ryan beat Rickey Shane Page after a step-up enzuigiri, multiple chest kicks and two superkicks.

    INTERMISSION

3rd round tournament matches
  1. ACH pinned Colin Delaney after hitting a cradle DDT.

  2. B.J. Whitmer defeated The Brian Kendrick after landing a superplex.

  3. Eric Ryan pinned Josh Prohibition with a crucifix reversal after Prohibition went for the cover after hitting the Drunken Driver.

Non-tournament matches:
  1. The Sex Bob-ombs (Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett) defeated The Batiri (Kodama and Obariyon) when Vega pinned Kodama. Afterward, Vega challenges Mark and Jay Briscoe for a match at Absolution 7.

  2. Mad Man Pondo beat John Thorn in a No DQ, No Holds Barred Match after landing a top rope splash.

  3. Tim Donst won a fatal four way match when he forced Flip Kendrick to tap out to the From Dusk 'til Donst (Crossface / Scissored armbar) submission. Ethan Page and Michael Facade were the other match participants.

  4. AIW Womens Champion Allysin Kay defeated "Girl Dynamite" Jennifer Blake

Tournament Final
  1. Eric Ryan becomes the 2012 JLIT Winner and new AIW Absolute Champion defeating ACH and BJ Whitmer in a three-way elimination match. ACH pinned Whitmer with a hurracanrana after Bobby Beverly interfered. Ryan pinned ACH after hitting a package pile driver.

    Afterward, Tim Donst asks for a title shot (along with Johnny Gargano) at Absolution 7.

AIW: Girls Night Out 6

  1. Preshow: Eric Ryan pinned Ethan Page

    Acting President of AIW Matt Wadsworth discussed the future of the promotion, as well as the outpouring of support from the fans, and how they are the sole backers of AIW, seeing as they have no financial support or corporate sponsors. He also insisted that Girls Night Out 6 would not be AIW's final show, contrary to some fans’ fears.

  2. K.C. defeated Miss Heidi with the Low Down.

  3. Hailey Hatred (substituting for Gabriella Vanderpool) pinned Leva Bates after hitting a lariat.

  4. Melanie Cruise beat Taylor Made after hitting the Widowmaker.

    Mad Man Pondo came out and cut a promo plugging the J.T. Lightning Invitational tournament and introducing his protege Mary Dobson which led to ...

  5. "Crazy" Mary Dobson pinned Trash Cassidy (substituting for Venus) using a small package in a No Rules Death Match.

    INTERMISSION

  6. Cherry Bomb pinned Sassy Stephie (with Chest Flexor) when Flexor interference backfired and Bomb hit the B.S.E. - Best Superkick Ever.

  7. Taeler Hendrix defeated Annie Social (with Sammy Geodollno) with a school girl roll up.

  8. "Girl Dynamite" Jennifer Blake defeated Kimber Lee after hitting the Dynamite Driver aka Michinoku Driver.

  9. Sara Del Rey defeated Veda Scott via Crossface submission. Afterwards, Del Rey offered her hand, but Veda walked away.

  10. Hailey Hatred pinned Jenny Rose after hitting the Tiger Suplex.

  11. Allysin Kay (with Chest Flexor) defeated Mia Yim in a No Holds Barred Match for the vacant AIW Womens Title when Flexor threw baby powder in Yim's eyes leading to the victory.

    Afterward, Kay divorced herself from Flexor Industries and demanded that the match be restarted. Rather than do that, Matt Wadsworth announced that AIW would soon see Yim vs. Kay III
