Keystone 27, Wellington 14

Sophomore wide receiver C.J. Conrad had 204 yards receiving on 12 catches and scored three touchdowns as the Keystone Wildcats defeat the Wellington Dukes 27-14. You can listen to the replay online.

Wellington struck first after Jake Deidrick recovered a muffed punt deep in Keystone territory. The Dukes went 19 yards on 6 plays capped by a Tyler Polen 3-yard run to give Wellington a 7-0 lead.

Keystone tied the game late in the 2nd quarter when Conrad caught a 40-yard pass from junior quarterback Marcus Gunter with just 47 seconds remaining capping a 9-play, 81-yard drive.

The Wildcats scored on their first two possessions of the 2nd half. First going 73 yards capped by an 8-yard pass from Gunter to Conrad and then a second 73-yard drive capped by a Gunter 1-yard run.

Wellingotn pulled to within 21-14 on a Quinton Dendinger 10-yard touchdown run but the Dukes could get no closer.

Keystone iced the game with a 15-play, 67-yard march. The key play was Gunter to Conrad 30-yard pass on 4th and 16 to put the Wildcats at the Wellington 1. Gunter found Conrad again in the endzone from 4-yards out for the score.

Gunter returned to the starting quarterback for Keystone after missing the last two games with a sprained right ankle. Conrad had 37 receptions for 589 yards coming into the game and now has 13 touchdowns on the season.

Keystone senior running back Greg Howard added 117 yards rushing on 14 carries (107 in the 2nd half).

Wellington's Chade Bealer returned to the lineup after missing five weeks with a stress fracture in his right leg. The junior running back had 13 carries for 72 yards while senior quarterback Dylan Weidrick earned 65 yards on 9 carries.

Keystone with the victory goes to 4-4 while Wellington drops to 2-6. The Wildcats avenged a 55-6 defeat last year at the hands of the Dukes. Keystone is still alive in the PAC Stripes Division finishes the season against rivals Buckeye and Black River.
