AIW Dead Presidents

AIW results from last night's @aiwrestling Dead Presidents event at Turner Hall in Cleveland Ohio. A record crowd of over 300 fans attended the final event of 2013 - all AIW wrestling blog posts.

Dave "the Potato" Dawson and Tom Dunn returned as AIW referees.

Show opened with The Duke, Eric Ryan, and Rickey Shane Page of #Nixon trying to enter Turner's Hall. AIW acting President Matt Wadsworth gets in the ring and wants them tossed out. He explained since #Nixon lost the main event at AIW Hell on Earth 9, they were fired. Duke has a valid AIW contract so he was allowed to go to the lockerroom. Ryan and Page signed their contracts as part of #Nixon so they’re not allowed in the building.

  1. AIW Tag Team Champions The Jollyville F***-Its (Nasty Russ Myers and T-Money) defeated Youthanazia (M-Dogg 20 Matt Cross & Josh Prohibition), The Submission Squad (Pierre Abernathy & Evan Gelistico), and The Hot Young Best Friends (Briley Pierce & Gary Jay) in a four-way match when T-Money pinned Gary Jay after hitting the POUUUUUNCE.

Greg Iron with his Iron Curtain arrived for a promo and says the Wide Open Challenge won't be until later since he's not dressed. He said later tonight would be his 2nd Open Challenge where he challenged anyone in the building to a fight. Longtime tag team partner Veda Scott interrupted.

(Davey Vega) faces off against Flip Kendrick
(on the shoulders of Marion Fontaine) in a game of Chicken.

Iron tries giving her a broken flower. Iron goes over the ways he's contacted her. Scott tries to slap him but he grabs her hand. Iron says he cares about Scott and says I love you. Scott attacked Iron but the Iron Curtain breaks them up. Scott gets away from Benjamin Boone and dives over the ropes onto the Iron Curtain. Back in the ring, Scott is speared by Boone before she gets her hands on Iron. Iron says pick her up and kisses her. Scott then declared war on Gregory Iron.

  2. Bobby Beverly pinned Ty Colton to win a six-way scramble that also included Marion Fontaine, Flip Kendrick, Colin Delaney, and Davey Vega.

  3. Colt Cabana pinned Tracy Smothers (with Jesse Belle Smothers) in a segment that barely resembled a wrestling match. Dave Prazak and Marty DeRosa on commentary. The three talked for several minutes about wrestling, Cleveland, JT Lightning, Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon and even the Affordable Care Act. Eventually the match started. After a couple of minutes, Smothers asks the crowd if they want a dance-off. When Cabana was dancing, Smothers jumped him from behind. Smothers hit Cabana with his flag pole and thinking he won the match only to have Cabana reverse Smothers and score a crucifix pin. Smothers got on the microphone again, made fun of the Cleveland Browns and said he won’t come back to AIW the rest of the year.

    INTERMISSION

  4. AIW Intense Champion Louis Lyndon defeated Kevin Steen when Ethan Page ran to the ring, distracted Steen, allowing Lyndon to score the pinfall via a rollup.

  5. Tim Donst pinned Chris Hero when Hero escaped the Dusk til Donst submission but Donst rolled through and scored a crucifix pin.

After the match, Hero showed respect to Tim Donst and announced a rematch will take place at a later date. After Hero left, Donst instead ended up challenging Danny Havoc to a hardcore match on Friday night, February 7th.

Up next was the scheduled main event of AIW Absolute Champion UltraMantis Black vs. Johnny Gargano. During the introductions, Ethan Page interrupted and demanded to be added to the match since he has not received his rematch since dropping the title to the current champion. Gargano wants to break Page’s arm and accepts. Mantis says he’s had wild three ways before and accepts which led to …

  6. Ethan Page beat AIW Absolute Champion UltraMantis Black and Johnny Gargano in an elimination match to win the title. UltraMantis Black was first eliminated when he tapped out to Gargano’s GargaNo Escape Chicken-wing submission. Gargano then thought he had the title won when he had Page in the same hold and Louis Lyndon rang the bell. Referee Dave Dawson ruled the match should continue and Page won when he rolled up a distracted Gargano and held the tights for the win.

While Page and Lyndon were celebrating, Michael Elgin  came out. Elgin was originally scheduled to wrestle Josh Alexander in a 2 out of 3 falls match and since Alexander wasn’t in the building, he challenged Page for his newly won title. Page says he’s done wrestling and says Elgin gets the shot at the next show. Elgin calls Page a a name. Page attacks and the bell rings which led to ….
