Berea-Midpark at Strongsville tonight

I will be covering high school football tonight in Strongsville, Ohio as the Mustangs host the Berea-Midpark Titans. You can tune in to 1380 AM or listen online (replay will be available online as well).

Both teams are surprisingly 2-0.

Berea-Midpark

This is just the 2nd football season for the Titans. Both Berea and Midpark were two separate high schools that merged together after the 2012 season. Both teams played their home games at Tressell Field at George Finnie Stadium on the Baldwin Wallace University campus.

The Titans are 2-0 after wins against North Royalton (47-7) and Garfield Heights (36-21). The Titans record a year ago was 3-7 and they didn’t get their first victory until week 4 against Amherst.

Strongsville

Strongsville won a heart-stopping game in week 1 at Lake Catholic, 32-31, after losing their starting QB Bobby Cole to injury. Last week, they shocked Cleveland Heights, 34-6, and their 2nd string quarterback Ryan Robertson missed time due to injury as well.

Head Coach Larry Laird might be in his first year on the Strongsville sideline but he coached Medina for one year; Play-offs. Last year, Laird was the Avon Lake head coach; Play-offs. Third year as a head coach with three different schools and his goal is the same: play-offs.

The two teams played each a year ago with Strongsville emerging victorious 29-19.
