MEGA Championship Wrestling - 20th Anniversary Show

Results from Friday's @megawrestling 20th Anniversary event at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elyria Ohio.  This is the final AIW show at this venue - all wrestling blog posts.

1. ???? (guy wearing a black singlet with a green monster mask) pinned Matt Alexander (with Ashton Day) via roll up after Ashton interference backfired.
   
   Aaron Bauer was inducted into the MEGA Ring of Respect. Soda Pop Johnson told stories. Dirty Tom came out. There were video tributes from several wrestlers including Gregory Iron and WWE's Vic Joseph. Bauer thanked several people including the late JT Lightening, his kids Hannah (who accompanied Bauer to the ring) and Mike, and the late Chandler Biggins. During the segment, Casey Carrington IV came from the locker room to speak badly of Bauer who then received a Three Stooges eye poke for his troubles.
   
2. James Rizer pinned ???? (James Ryan) with a German Suplex in a triple threat match also involving Christian Cross.
   
   Main Card
   
   To start the show was the finals of a tournament with the teams of The Philly Marino Experience (Marino Tenaglia & Philly Collins), Rachel Bostic & Calvin Couture and The Ellis Trucking Company (Chuck Morris & Jake Ely). Out came the Mega Tag Team Champions The Process (Cree Fudo & Paxton Calloway with Dr. Daniel C. Rockingham). Next the babyface authority figure (???? Brandon Xavier?) came out and stated the match was now a fatal four-way match for both the trophy and the Mega Tag Team Championship which led to ....
   
   
3. The Philly Marino Experience (Marino Tenaglia & Philly Collins) defeated Calvin Couture & Rachel Bostic, The Ellis Trucking Company (Chuck Morris & Jake Ely) and Mega Tag Team Champions The Process (Cree Fudo & Paxton Calloway & Dr. Daniel C. Rockingham) in a fatal four-way match to win the titles and the tournament trophies when Tenaglia pinned Couture after PME hit the flapjack flatliner.
   
   
4. The LSD Hippie Connection (Lanny San Dimas & Lemmy San Dimas) defeated Stay Woke (Big Twan Tucker & Big Moe) when Tucker and Moe ate skittles, starting tripping out and LSD scored the pin with a top rope cross body block on Tucker.
   
   
5. Coach Payne and The Gym Nasty Boyz (Timmy Lou Retton & White Mike) defeated The Office (Aaron Sheppard, Casey Carrington IV & Nick Nero with Shawn Blaze) when Payne pinned Carrington after hitting a spear.
   
   
6. MEGA Infinity Champion Cisco Silver pinned Ashton Day (with Matt Alexander) after hitting a sunset flip piledriver in a fatal four-way match also involving Andrew Palace and Dylan Bostic.
   
   
7. Atticus Cogar pinned Otis Cogar in a fans bring the weapons match after hitting a superplex on a table covered in barbed wire. During the match Atticus Cogar hit his opponent with an artificial leg from a fan similar to a spot from WWE In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies. Afterward, the two brothers hugged.

8. Joseline Navarro pinned Trey Miguel with a jackknife pinfall.
   
   
9. Bryan Convel won a five person match against MEGA Fighting Spirit Champion Zoey Skye, Shawn Blaze, Zachary Wentz and Brycen Teller (with Megan Meyers) to win Skye's title.
   
   
10. Kalam and Big Cream Jonny Allnight defeated Mad Dog Manson and Ricky Morton when Kalam pinned Manson after a kick to the face.
    
    
11. Derek Direction pinned MEGA Champion Jackson Stone to win the title after hitting a powerbomb.
    
    

HITS

Overall Presentation This is the first time attending a MEGA show and I can see myself returning for another show in the future. The gym had plenty of room to walk around. Plenty of parking. The neighborhood wasn't scary. The matches didn't drag on with multiple false finishes. The heels actually acted like heels. The fans bring the weapons match was violent but not too ridiculously over the top. I liked the video board at the south end of the gym - made the event feel big. The audio was bad, see below, but I guess nothing is perfect.



MISSES

Atticus Cogar vs. Otis Cogar Apparently at a previous show Otis Cougar attacked his brother Atticus which led to a fans bring the weapons match. Afterward both brothers hugged. I'm sorry that is just not believable. I have a hard time believing everything is OK after Atticus hit Otis with an artificial leg from a fan. Atticus stabbed Otis with a handful of skewers and then a table spot onto barbed wire. I'm sure the two brothers love each other. I don't like violent matches that end in a handshake.

Audio System Might be tough to achieve good sound due to the acoustics of the building but that's no excuse. It was tough to understand ring announcer Payton Vince the whole night. You couldn't hear the wrestler names or why we should care about each wrestler. At least we had the video board so we could at least see an image of each wrestler's name.
