AIW Make 'Em Say Uhh

Results from last night's @aiwrestling #Uhh event at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Cleveland Ohio - all AIW wrestling blog posts.

  1. Hot Sauce Entertainment ("Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams and Tyson Dux) defeated the Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds and Johnny Silver) when Williams pinned Silver after a double chokeslam and an alligator clutch.

  2. Louis Lyndon made Eric Ryan tap out to the Dragon Sleeper to win a fatal four-way match also involving Brian Myers and "Crimson" Tommy Mercer.

  3. Ethan Carter III defeated Johnny Gargano when Raymond Rowe interfered distracting the referee allowing DJ Zema Ion to hit Gargano with the ring bell to set up the pinfall.

  4. AIW Tag Team Champions To Infinity And Beyond (Colin Delaney & Cheech) defeated The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) when Cheech pinned Nick Jackson.

  5. Alex Daniels pinned JERRY after hitting the 630 splash to win a six-pack scramble match also involving Chris Sabin, Alessandro Del Bruno, Joshua Singh and Tyler Thomas. During the match Benjamin Boone and Joey Vincent Martini attacked Singh and took him out.

  6. Intense Champion Davey Vega pinned Flip Kendrick after hitting the Falcon Arrow on the knees.

  7. Veda Scott pinned AIW Womens Champion Athena to win the title after AIW Absolute Champion Josh Alexander interfered hitting Athena with a spinning tombstone piledriver and setting up the pinfall for Scott in a fatal four-way match also involving Mickie James and Candice LeRae.

  8. Raymond Rowe defeated Josh Prohibition when Matt Cross interfered allowing Rowe hit the Death Rowe (Full Nelson / Knee Lift to the back of the head) on Prohibition for the win.

Afterward, Johnny Gargano, Alex Daniels, Ethan Carter III and DJ Zema Ion all emerged from the locker room. The Dudes on TV had the advantage until the Young Bucks made the save. Gargano challenged the heels to a Cleveland Street Fight at the July Absolution X show. Carter III accepted. It's official: Gargano, Prohibition, the Young Bucks and Daniels vs. Dudes on TV (Rowe, Cross, Carter III, Ion and a mystery partner).

  9. AIW Absolute Champion Josh Alexander (with AIW Womens Champion Veda Scott), Eddie Kingston (with The Duke) and BJ Whitmer defeated Rickey Shane Page, Ethan Page and Dick Justice when Alexander pinned Rickey Shane Page after a low blow and hitting a spinning tombstone piledriver.

HITS
Mens Fatal Four-Way Interesting dynamic in this match - the combatants consisted of three heels (Brian Myers, Tommy Mercer and Louis Lyndon) and one babyface wrestler (Eric Ryan).

The match told a good story with the cowardly heel (Lyndon) taking a nap on the outside while the two monster heels in the ring took turns trying to outdo one another at the expense of Ryan.

The finish was fantastic as you as a fan thought any of the four wrestlers could emerge victorious. Lyndon getting the submission victory will probably set-up a title match against Intense Champion Davey Vega.  I'd be interested in a Myers/Mercer match.

Young Bucks vs. Delaney & Cheech This is by far the best AIW match of 2015 - easily, five stars.

Both teams were over, the action was non-stop, believable near-falls. It was the first time seeing The Young Bucks in person and they are as good as advertisied.

What stood out most for me was Colin Delaney and Cheech were every bit as great as the Young Bucks. To Infinity And Beyond are the tag team champions at a time where there isn't many tag teams in AIW, they just won the belts, they haven't been together very long and they were equals to the Young Bucks.

This win for To Infinity And Beyond will go a long way in establishing them as strong AIW tag team champions.

Six-pack scramble It seems like I give a hit to the six-pack scramble every show. Tonight, it established Iron Curtain member JERRY as an individual wrestler and the crowd just ate it up. It looks Greg Iron and Joshua Singh are headed for a showdown. I'd be curious if a singles run is in JERRY's future.

The Main Event AIW does two things very well: six-pack scrambles and street fights. I like the fact AIW held off having this type of match at the new venue until now because there wasn't a storyline to support it. That's a good thing.

The action here was tremendous including a spot where Ethan Page speared Eddie Kingston off the stage and onto a table. Asking the Duke tax questions was hilarious.

I can see why new AIW Absolute Champion Josh Alexander pinned the #1 contender Rickey Shane Page for the win. I'd like to see RSP get the upper hand at the next show to even things out leading up to their eventual showdown at ABSO10 in July.

MISSES
Mickie James Anytime you have a star like Mickie James on the show, you're going to draw a big house. James had the longest autograph lines of any wrestler I have seen in the four years of attending AIW shows.

Having said that, the miss is how she was booked.

The big story coming out of the womens fatal four-way match was Veda Scott and Josh Alexander holding the top male and female singles titles in AIW while James quietly headed to the back and that was wrong.

Mickie James should have been booked in a singles match against Candice LeRae and leave the title change for another match on another show. James and LeRae could showcase their skills and LeRae could get some rub from James.

As stated earlier, the To Infinity And Beyond tag team received a huge rub from wrestling the Young Bucks. Nobody benefited from Mickie James in that fatal four-way match and Mickie James never received any time alone in the ring for the fans to show their appreciation and chant "Please Come Back." It was just a big lost opportunity.

Gargano vs. Carter III The action was good for the match and the crowd was red hot. The miss here is the match became 3 on 1 with the heels getting a screw job victory. Raymond Rowe and Josh Prohibition have been feuding for months. As soon as Rowe emerged from the curtain, that should have prompted Prohibition to come out and even the odds. Rowe's Jesus Christ Superstar music even played at his arrival so you can't even make the argument that maybe Prohibition didn't know Rowe was interfering.

Prohibition vs. Rowe This miss is for Johnny Gargano for the same reason stated earlier. Gargano has had issues with Matt Cross and Raymond Rowe in the past. After what Rowe did earlier in the night, why would Gargano wait until after the match to help Prohibition? It doesn't make sense.

Gargano/Prohibition vs. Dudes on TV

This feud has been very one-sided:
  • Raymond Rowe distraction causes Prohibition to lose at #HOE10
  • Cross uses a low blow to pin Prohibition at #Underhills
  • Rowe hits Gargano with the ring bell to pick the win in a six-man match at #ChooChoo
  • Rowe beat Gargano in a singles match at #GFTG10
  • Carter III defeats Gargano and Rowe goes over Prohibition at #Uhh.
After all of these losses, what makes you think the heels will ever receive their comeuppance.

I'm not sure if I like the Young Bucks added to this feud. Those guys are tag team wrestlers - I rather see them in the ring.

Besides, what is a Cleveland Street Fight? Didn't we just watch a street fight between Rowe and Prohibition.
