Lorain squeaks by Cleveland Hts. 14-13

The Lorain High School held on to defeat Cleveland Hts. 14-13 to close out the 2016 regular season.

With the win, the Titans:
  • First LEL title in school history - the first outright league championship in football for the city since the 1987 Admiral King team was the sole champion of the Erie Shore Conference
  • An 8-game winning streak - 1st in school history, 1st in city history to close the season
  • First home playoff game in school history in Division 1, Region 2
With the loss, Cleveland Heights find themselves out the post-season in Division 1, Region 1

After Lorain turned the ball over on downs at the Tigers 19 with 2:29,  Cleveland Hts. began their march for a potential game-winner.  Lorain appeared to have held but was called for roughing the passer on 3rd giving the Tigers a fresh set of downs at the Lorain 45.

The Titans defense came through against the Tiger offense including Nazihar Bohannon stopping Cleveland Heights QB Cam Searight for no gain on 4th and 1 at Lorain's 36 with 42 seconds left.
