- Avon 10-1 (7-0 West Shore Conference) The Eagles had a 10-0 season for the 2nd time in three seasons. Unfortunately, they played their worst half of football in week 11 against Sandusky. Still a great year and coach Mike Elder has plenty of talent returning.
- Elyria Catholic 10-2 (4-1 North Coast League, White Division) The Panthers showed me something with their win over Huron in week 11. A team that throws the football all over the place had faced bad weather on a bad field. EC won the game with defense and running game. Unfortunately, the next week against Orville, the Panthers reverted to old form: too many mistakes, not enough defense and questionable play-calling. Still EC played their first home play-off game this year and won their first play-off game since 1992.
- Avon Lake 8-3 (6-1 in Southwestern Conference) Shoremen defeated Amherst to take a piece of Southwestern Conference title with Olmsted Falls. Lost to Maumee in the first round of the play-offs, a team Avon Lake ousted from the post-season a year ago.
- Amherst 8-2 (5-2 in SWC) The Comets have only themselves to blame for missing the post-season. After starting the year 8-0, they dropped their final two games to Olmsted Falls and Avon Lake. Their non-conference opponents were a combined 7-23.
- Columbia 9-2 (7-0 Patriot Athletic Conference, Stripes Division) 2010 record matches the best mark in school history (1973), their first PAC championship, and a return to the play-offs for the first time since 2002. Got hammered in the first round of the post-season.
- North Ridgeville 7-3 (5-2 WSC) All three losses came to Division 2, Region 6 teams (Westlake in week 1, Avon in week 5 and Rocky River in week 9). Losing their kicker in a soccer game cost the Rangers in the loss to the Pirates.
- Clearview 7-3 (5-2 PAC Stripes) Transition year for the Clippers. However, not winning the conference and qualifying for the play-offs are a big disappointment.
- Elyria 4-6 (3-2 Northeast Ohio Conference, River Division) Matched their win total from last season. The Pioneers lost the city battle to Elyria Catholic and were shut out twice.
- Keystone 4-6 (2-5 PAC Stars) Offense was a problem all year long. The Wildcats were 4-0 when scoring three touchdowns or more, 0-6 when they didn’t.
- Wellington 4-6 (4-3 PAC Stars Division) – The Dukes had low numbers (31 players) this year and lost a few to eligibility. Wellington also tried the spread formation on offense at the beginning of the year. Once they moved back to the Wing-T and settled on a QB, the Dukes played much better.
- Brookside 3-7 (1-6 PAC Stars) Five game losing streak to close the year who seemed like they were a couple of plays away from starting the year 5-1. The Cardinals suffered a lot of injuries to their offensive line.
- Lorain 2-8 (1-3 Lake Erie League, Erie Division) Rough year for the Titans. Expectations were unreasonably high this year. The good news was a combined high school and a larger talent pool. The bad news was the number of wins combined on the field for both Admiral King and Southview in 2009 was 3-7. Once again, Coach Todd Auvil was grasping at straws with the quarterback position at the end of the year.
- Midview 3-7 (2-5 WSC) Loss to Lorain at home in week 1 was an omen for things to come. Thankfully for the Middies, they play in the same conference as Firelands and Vermilion.
- Firelands 2-8 (1-6 WSC) Give interim head coach Mike Passerello and his kids credit. Good to see the hard work rewarded with the win over arch-rival Vermilion in week 10 that snapped a 17 game losing streak to the Sailors and a 24 game skid against West Shore Conference opponents.
- Vermilion 0-10 (0-7 WSC) Team played hard during this difficult season. Too bad it didn’t lead to a victory.
- Oberlin 0-10 (0-7 PAC Stripes) Coach Fred Howery has his work cut out for him with this team.
