Westlake at Olmsted Falls tonight

The Southwestern Conference has had membership changes in recent years.  Among them is expanding to ten schools and forcing each school to play nine conference games against the other members.

For the Westlake Demons and the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs, these are two schools who represent the old guard.

Westlake

The Demons start the year 1-0 after a late field goal gives them a 30 to 28 victory at Eastlake North.

With a victory tonight, Coach Jason Hall will have 100 career victories in a 15-year coaching career:
  • Westlake 4-7 (2015 to present)
  • Massillon 57-25 (2008 to 2014)
  • Nordonia 10-2 (2007)
  • Brush 14-18 (2004-2006)
  • Southeast 14-7 (2002-2003)

Olmsted Falls

Olmsted Falls was one of five play-off teams a year ago in the Southwestern Conference and is probably the one school on the list you would have the hardest time trying to remember.

The Bulldogs lost a lot of players from that play-off team but two guys return are running back Spencer Linville and lineman Sam Vas.

Bulldogs are also 1-0 after defeating Parma 33 to 18.

Olmsted Falls Head Coach Tom DeLuca was the Westlake Defensive Coordinator for five seasons from 2008-2012.

The Bulldogs have won 22 of the past 23 meetings between the two schools.

Westlake will certainly remember Spencer Linville from their meeting a year ago. The Bulldogs won 35-14 and Linville carried the ball 35 times for 309 yards and five touchdowns.

Both schools are competing in the Division 2, Region 6.
