Firelands were lead by senior RB Nick Deichler and senior QB Kyle Smith as they defeated their arch rival Vermilion 34-0. The Falcons are now 3-0 for the first time since 1989 - also the last year when Firelands had a winning record. The most recent year Firelands won three games was 2003.

Vermilion defeated Firelands 17 straight times from 1993-2009 but the Falcons snapped that streak by winning last year 28-21. Firelands has now defeated Vermilion in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1984-1985. The quarterback of those winning teams was Kyle Smith's dad, Dave Smith.
